How to Switch old wood-mount stamps to light and airy cling stamps
Look how old and yellowed this box has become (granted it is from 1997!) Time to do something about it.
Take each stamp and microwave it for about 10 seconds, sometimes a bigger stamp will need 12 or 13 seconds
Gently peel off the foam and rubber from the wood and lay it down sticky side up
Gently peel the label off the other side of the wooden block
Stick the label directly onto the foam
Turn it over and press it firmly on a flat surface to make sure it is stuck and allow it to cool
This is the entire set ready to trim
Trim the excess label around the stamp image. This may gunk up your scissors after a while so you can clean them with stamp cleaner or Windex
This is how the new wood'less stamp looks
Here is the whole set, trimmed and ready to be converted
Print an insert for a DVD case. I bought mine from Amazon and added the name of the set (and © year if known)
These wonderful cling adhesive are available from Stampin' Up!
This is how they look inside. The best way to use them is in sets of 2 as it's the easiest was to peel the backing off
Put strips of cling on all the stamp images and peel the backing paper off, leaving the cling surface. It doesn't have to cover the image 100% but make sure there are enough areas for it to cling securely to the acrylic block for stamping.
They can now cling to the inside of the DVD case and onto an acrylic block for stamping in the same way a new modern cling stamp works :)

I also bought some CD cases and put smaller sets into those. As I've been stamping for 28 years I have a lot of stamps and a lot of wood-mounted ones so doing this has reduced the stamps I didn't want to part with by 80%!!
